Voices from Afghanistan: the plight of Afghan women

Tune in on Wednesday 2 February at 10:30 CET for a new #EYEonline session.

Just a few months have passed since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, cracking down on women’s rights, forcing many women to flee the country. Despite the threat to their lives, many female activists are still bravely speaking up to fight the injustices done to them and their country.

Hear the stories of and ask your questions to two courageous Afghan women, Sahraa Karimi, film director and Aryana Sayeed, singer and activist, as well as Member of the European Parliament Maria Arena on what the European Parliament has been doing to support Afghan women.

SPEAKERS

- MEP Maria Arena (S&D), Chair of DROI

- Sahraa Karimi, first female president of the Afghan state film company

- Aryana Sayeed, Afghan singer and activist

MODERATOR
